Privacy Policy

Noir Player is a music player that plays audio files stored on your device. It has no accounts, no sign-in and no advertising. This policy describes everything it does with data, which is very little.

What we collect

Nothing. Noir Player does not collect, store or transmit any personal information. There is no analytics, no crash reporting, no tracking and no advertising code in the app. We run no servers, and we have no way to identify you or your device.

Your music stays on your device

The app asks permission to read the audio files on your device so it can show and play your library. Your music, playlists, play counts, settings and listening history are stored only on your device and are never uploaded anywhere.

The one thing that leaves your device

If artist images or artist descriptions are switched on, the app sends theartist's name — and nothing else — to these services to look up a photo or a short biography:

• Deezer (api.deezer.com) — artist photos
• Wikipedia and Wikidata (en.wikipedia.org,www.wikidata.org) — artist descriptions
• Wikimedia Commons (commons.wikimedia.org) — an optional alternative photo source, off by default

These requests contain the artist's name, the app's name and version, and — as with any request to any website — your device's IP address. They contain no identifier for you, your device or your library. Nothing about what you listen to, or when, is ever sent.

Those services have their own privacy policies, which govern what they do with a request they receive. You can turn these features off in Settings → Artists, after which the app makes no network requests at all.

Playing to other devices

If you stream audio to a computer on your own network, that audio travels directly from your phone to that computer over your local network. It does not pass through us or any third party.

Children

Noir Player is not directed at children, and collects no data from anyone — children included.

Purchases

If the app offers a paid upgrade in future, the purchase is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see or store your payment details.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above.
